Inca Trail: Day 3

The longest part of the hike was today. We hiked roughly 16 km, and I among several others did so while sick, trying to recover from food poisoning.

I, unfortunately, woke up around 3.00 AM, feeling nauseous and moments later ended up vomiting. Once everyone was awake several hours later, I find out that I’m not the only one feeling sick. Roughly half of the group wasn’t feeling well. We all powered through it and continued hiking anyway.

On the way, we saw many beautiful views and even some Inca ruins which were very cool.

We began the hike early in the morning and didn’t arrive at our next camp until roughly after sunset. I swear the first thing I did once I finally arrived at camp was to go to my tent and sleep.

After dinner, we all gave the porters a tip and Julie gave a beautiful speech thanking them for everything they’ve done for us. They also delivered a speech of their own, thanking us which was the sweetest thing ever.

All in all, it was a great end to what started out as a horrible day.
